The BII’s Ten Pin Bowling Competition, sponsored by Marquis & Lord, held at the Bowlplex, Broadway Plaza, attracted record numbers this year. Fourteen teams of up to six took part, from Giles, BHSF, BII/Webb Holton, Thompson & Bryan, Three Lions Underwriting, Special Risks Adjusting Group and Berrymans.
As usual, the evening generated some healthy competition, as well as cash toward the raffle, with prizes kindly donated by Giles. Dee Mistry from BHSF came a very close second in the contest, narrowly missing out by one point, to Simon Davis from Giles who scored 315! Siobhan Race of BHSF won Best Female, scoring a combined 277 points and achieving a ‘turkey’ (three strikes in a row). The Best Team winners were the BII/ Webb Holton (pictured above). Well done to everyone who competed in the tournament. |

On the 16th July this year nineteen teams lined up for this year’s BII 5- a-side tournament, sponsored by Everatt and Company Solicitors, held at the Powerleague. As ever, with this competition, it was a hotly contested tournament, with several teams being in contention for the winning spot. The semi-final between JLT and AIG was especially close, with AIG winning on sudden death penalties.RSA just beatWesleyan in the other semi-final and went on to meet AIG. AIG played a great game, but it was RSA who had the upper hand, putting three goals in the net and winning 3-0. It was a really good evening of football and the standard was extremely high throughout the league and knock-out stages. Many teams had brought their supporters along to watch the matches, and many people made use of the bar to socialise and talk of goals scored and the near misses!
Congratulations to RSA, they played extremely well and fully deserved their title. Next year’s event is sure to be another close competition! |
